One of the prime design objectives was to create a family friendly house that featured both front and backyard outdoor living areas with strong indoor/outdoor connectivity while de-emphasizing garage dominance. The split side-turned garage placement creates a front entry courtyard and helps minimize the impact of the garage from the street. The large front porch and casita option for the 1-car garage enhance the livability of the front courtyard. From the entry/stair hall you begin to experience the formal dining and living rooms and catch a glimpse of the rear patio/back yard beyond. The home owner benefits from a traditional relationship between the kitchen, large eat-in nook and family room. The split floor plan features a downstairs “Dream Master Bedroom” with its’ own private mezzanine library and cozy retreat area. The second level of the house efficiently locates the three secondary bedrooms and a loft area that is open to living below. The simple forms and materials of the farm house style along with the strong connectivity between the indoor and outdoor spaces via the front courtyard/porch and back patio enhances the outdoor living opportunity, energizes the interior and creates an overall warm and inviting statement.
